TO ALL MY READERS

There's been some interesting comments about my post about the worth
of a genealogy blog. I've enjoyed the discussion but at this point I'm
asking everyone to refrain from remarks of a personal nature and
respect each other's positions. Otherwise, feel free to continue
commenting,

I'll be the first to admit I'm not the brightest light bulb on the chandelier
but I like a good civil debate over ideas. Besides, this past year has
made me realize that life's too short to waste it in negative things.

Martin, I hope you do not retire your blog. I don't always agree
with what you say or how you say it, but it would be a pretty damn
boring world if we all thought alike.

I'm very upset that both you and Footnotemaven quoted my blog and your commenters began attacking me without provocation. I don't think it's fair that you allow some attacks and then you don't let people defend themselves.

Martin,
You are welcome to defend yourself all you want. I simply ask ALL commenters to refrain from attacks of a personal nature. I made a similar request last year during the Terry Thornton discussion here. And if I wasn't going to allow you to defend yourself, I wouldn't have posted your first comment at all.

If you read the original post, I was not quoting you, I was quoting the article that you quoted. The only reason I gave the name of your blog was to inform readers that I had seen it on your blog and
properly credit it as being where I found it.
