GRAVE CONCERNS IN FORT SUMTER COUNTY :RESOLUTION!

I can't believe I hadn't posted this already. Great news from George
Geder on the fate of the Lake Panasoffkee Cemetery!

The Sumter County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously
against relocating the old cemetery which holds the remains
of African Americans and Native Americans. It is now designated
an historical site.

George provided a link to a story with more information.

A happy outcome, and thank you, George, for bringing this situation
to the attention of the geneablogging community!

That is great news! Thanks for helping preserve some of Florida's history from way up there in New England!

George deserves the credit for getting the word out on this one.

I think that we as geneabloggers
can do a lot of good in these sort of cases by mobilizing the online community to act with the local folks fighting to preserve our past!

Thanks for the comment, Karen!
