SPEAK LIKE A NATIVE NEW ENGLANDER 10

Well, it's nearly summer time again, and some of my readers might be
traveling up here in New England, so it's time once more for some lessons
on how to speak like a native New Englander.

It might help you understand what we're saying, too.

Place names up here are always challenging and a story on the news
tonight provided me with two examples:

One is the town of Natick. It's not pronounced "Nah-tick" or "Nat-ick"
Nay! It's pronounced "Nate-ick"

And it sits on the shores of "Lake Cochituate". This is usually pronounced
as "Ka-chit-chew-it." You can imagine some of the jokes kids make of that
one.

But at least it's a shorter name than Lake Chargogg....er...that place..

Thanks, Cheryl ans Judith!
I'll post my choices Saturday night.
I wish I could do it now but I need to be up for work at 7:30 and with
my hunt and peck typing it'll take me an hour to do the post.

Thank you both for the honor!
