It's Saturday Night and time for Randy Seaver's Saturday Night
Genealogy Fun. This week, the exercise is: 1) If you have your family tree research in a Genealogy Management Program
(GMP), whether a computer software program or an online family tree, figure
out how to find how many persons, places, sources, etc. are in your database
(hint: the Help button is your friend!).
2) Tell us which GMP you use, and how many persons, places, sources, etc.
are in your database(s) today in a blog post of your own, in a comment to this
blog post, or in a Facebook status or Google+ stream comment.
I use several different programs. I use Ancestry.com for my online
research and periodically download the gedcom to RootsMagic4. At
present the RootsMagic4 stats are:
People: 25971
Families: 6242
Events: 73557
Alternate Names: 11
Places:10188
Sources:168
Citations: 17883
Repositories: 6
To-Do tasks: 0
Multimedia items: 0
Multimedia links: 0
Addresses: 0
Correspondence: 0
This is based on the last download on July 1 2011. At present, the
Ancestry.com tree People count stands at 26598 and Records at
7099 so the RootsMagic 4 data will be going up when I do my next
download in December.
