Ok, the picture on the left is an old drivers license picture of
myself.
The picture on the right is my 3x great grandfather John Cutter
West.
Does anyone else see a resemblance or is it wishful thinking on my
part?
Or was J.C. posing for his buggy driver's license and we just share
the curse of Bad License Photos?

There is definitely a strong family resemblance. I would have went with father or brother if I hadn't known the correct relation.
Count this as another vote for resemblance. All you needed to do was comb your hair a little more outward on the sides.
