WHAT I LEARNED FROM MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE

Awhile back I discovered that the certificate of birth the hospital issued
at my birth wasn't actually a birth certificate, so I sent away to the City
of Boston for mine. It finally arrived today, and I learned a few things
I hadn't know before.

One was that it was 10 1/2 hours from the time my mother was admitted
to the Massachusetts Osteopathic Hospita at 12:12pm until I was born at
10:42 pm, The doctor who delivered me was Dr.John A.Chace. And my
parents were living at 277 Roxbury St in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston.

This last part, their residence, is of note. I'd always thought they were living on
Parker St with my mom's mother, Agnes (McFarland)White. So I looked
up the address on Google Maps street view and this is what I found :

The building looked familiar:

It's where my Dad and Mom posed for their wedding picture!

Amazing article. Who knew you could learn so much from that. Now, I want to go relook at my Birth Certificate.

How interesting! Of note is the fact that you were born at Mass. Osteopathic Hospital. I was born at East Town Osteopathic Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
I always thought that was an interesting choice of names but it is actually a different outlook on medical practice altogether.
Cool find Bill!

I love the photo of the house, even with the fish eye distortion. It looks so Bostonian! Last year I drove around Boston taking photos of ancestor's homes using the census records notes as addresses. Several homes in Boston's South End, South Boston, and Roxbury looked just like that house.

What a hoot! I've got my birth certificate, but never thought to use Google Earth to see if the tiny little house in Florida was still standing...

I don't know why - I use it for other addresses in the tree much older than that!

Loved this - what a neat idea! I remember my band teacher telling us about her birth certificate - it had a total of 10 mistakes, including mislabeling her as a boy.

Excellent sleuthing! Congratulations on identifying the building in the wedding picture!

I should check my birth certificate too. Mom mentioned recently that she thought she'd spelled my name a different way. A girl shouldn't find out at 45 that she's been spelling her own name wrong her whole life!

Very cool. Just one more piece to the puzzle. I also have connections to Roxbury, but haven't mapped them out yet.
